6、 China's mandatory national standards (for hazardous chemicals)

For products listed in the Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals, hazard characteristic testing must be conducted according to the following standards:

  • GB 30000. x series (Specification for Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, consistent with GHS)

  • GB 5085.1~7 (Identification criteria for hazardous waste, including corrosiveness, acute toxicity, leaching toxicity, etc.)

  • GB 12268 (List of Dangerous Goods, Transport Classification)

8、 How to find testing standards for specific chemicals

  1. If the chemical name or CAS number is known, the corresponding product standards (such as GB/T, HG, ISO standards) can be queried, for example, industrial ethanol has GB/T 6820.

  2. Determine the purpose of the test:

    • Quality control → check product standards or general methods (such as density, moisture, content)

    • Transportation safety → Check the classification standards for dangerous goods (UN38.3, GB 12268)

    • Environmental Release Registration (REACH, China New Chemical Substance Registration Order No. 10) → Refer to OECD Testing Guidelines

    • R&D formula → check ASTM/ISO performance test (such as interfacial tension, foam behavior)
